Orange Hit

Logo id: Orange Hit

The concept of this logo revolves around the expertise of InitMarketing:

Bringing companies and organizations behind Open Source products into the spotlight, developing strategy and creating market attraction.

This concept is portrayed through the symbolic collaboration between InitMarketing initials (in this case the letter "i" and "M") and shell prompt representation i.e. ">_".
This collaboration creates a new, high-impact image whilst still retaining the essence of the original symbols (both symbols are still visible in the background through the negative space created).
Orange colours are introduced to create an eye-catching vibrant attraction towards the company's identity.

Note:
Colours used in the logo are matched with PANTONE Matching System for faithful colour reproduction in printing.

A few ideas

5

Some ideas for consideration:

  • I would align the icon straight, not tilted. You loose the shell prompt presentation, but the "i" and "M" become better visible.
  • How about a monochrome background separating the icon from the surrounding e.g. white background?
  • The "i" might not be visible enough - maybe use one more and the same color for the line and dot of the "i".

Thank you!

Thank you for the comment!

There's a bit of reasoning behind the logo settings that you have mentioned:

  • The icon is slightly slanted not only to show both shell prompt and "i" & "M", but also to prevent people from ignoring those two elements and only see a stylized version of a person raising one fist up as if he's going "Yeah!" (originally the logo was set straight. Although the impression was positive, I reckon the latter visual element was too strong that it's starting to outshine all the other elements). Of course, depending on the image one is looking after, this CAN be exactly what you're looking for. This can be easily adjusted.
  • Adding an extra monoschrome background would create a conservative, rigid feeling. I was in doubt whether this suits the company's image as originally I did not get this impression from the photos used in this website. Maybe the company can explain their corporate culture a bit for me?I have also made two versions of this logo, one in white background, and the other in black, so if that's the problem I've got it covered.
  • Originally, the logo is not supposed to be just an initial. Legibility of letters is not the main issue since it has "InitMarketing" writing right under it. The elements were meant to be semi-subliminal (think the letter "C" in the logo of Carrefour). It's supposed to be a strong visual identity, where in application, you can separate the logo from the writing altogether. Imagine a company letterhead where it can have the bottom "InitMarketing" text at the top, and the visual identity faintly, printed large in the background of the letter. I CAN make a presentation of this logo implemented on different medium, but as you probably already know, it will take some time and will be outside of this competition's scope (that would be a complete corporate identity design).

Your ideas, however, are very valid and I thank you for pointing them out. I just didn't really want to write a whole essay on why the logo was set a certain way (I'm sure you'd think I made up some BS anyways if I did).
Having said that, InitMarketing knows their image best and my job is to provide the best possible way to visually communicate it, so I'm very open for further consultation in this respect.

Just to add my 10¢, I think

Just to add my 10¢, I think this is one of if not the strongest entry (and I put one in myself simply because I was worried we would end up with some of the initial suggestions).

The angle on it is great IMHO.

I also agree that adding a background and more definition to the 'i' would make it more conservative. @Sanro - Just as an idea if you felt the need to frame it more we could use a drop shaddow.

The only part I don't like is the font used for the company name, but strictly speaking that isn't 'the logo'. I would say this logo works on its own, but then I am a fan of being more enigmatic.
